Reclaimed Azobe Railway Sleepers

Reclaimed Azobe Railway Sleepers (untreated)

2600 x 250 x 145mm (8ft 6” x 10” x 6”) @ £45+vat each

Azobe is a tropical hardwood originating from Africa. Its proper name is Lophira alata but commonly known as Azobé, Ekki or red Ironwood.

These sleepers are excellent, extremely strong, durable and heavy.  The best thing is that unlike normal reclaimed sleepers, they are untreated and don't contain any creosote or chemicals and can be used internally or for vegetable beds, play areas etc.

• No creosote. Untreated
• Extremely strong
• Numerous uses inside and outside
• Durable – natural oils and dense grain make it hard wearing

Applications both inside and outside the home including; patios, beams/lintels, fire surrounds, garden furniture, bridges, steps, rustic-pathways, edging, raised flower/vegetable beds, decorative features etc..

These sleepers are excellent quality but will still show imperfections; cracks, knots, marks, some wane and even the odd insect nibble, all adding to their character.

Although the wood is untreated (no creosote or chemicals) some may have a very thin layer of dirt on the surface. The sleepers are old and dirty but clean up really easily with a jet wash and/or light sanding.
